Canadian Murder Suspect Arrested

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Lamkin and Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony, FBI Cleveland Field Office, announce the following arrest at Dalton, Georgia:

Todd Howley, age 48, of Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, was arrested on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at a Dalton, Georgia hotel parking lot without incident by agents and officers of the FBI, Dalton Police Department, Calhoun Police Department, and the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office. Howley is wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police for first-degree murder. A Federal District Court Provincial Warrant was obtained in Cleveland, Ohio after it became clear that Howley had fled Canada to the U.S.

Howley will appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Rome, Georgia on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 for his initial appearance.

The public should be reminded that the above are merely allegations and the all persons are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
