Seven Charged in Drug Trafficking Ring

PITTSBURGH, PA—Seven residents of the Greater Pittsburgh area have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal drug and firearms laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The three-count superseding indictment named the following defendants:
Dewayne J. Johnson, a/k/a Trig, a/k/a Trey Shit, age 28, of Duquesne, Pa.;
Andre J. Jackson, 33, of Pittsburgh, Pa.;
Richard D. Jasek, 28, of West Mifflin, Pa.;
Frank M. Cobb, 30, of Duquesne, Pa.;
Orlando Cobbs, a/k/a Leap, 32, of Duquesne, Pa.;
Eric G. Gaines, 40, of Verona, Pa.; and
Keith E. Redman, a/k/a Dinger, 35, of Pittsburgh, Pa.
According to the indictment, from in and around February 2010, and continuing thereafter to on or about Dec. 14, 2010, in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Dewayne Joseph, Jackson, Jasek, Cobb, Cobbs, Gaines, and Redman conspired to possess with intent to distribute and distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of crack cocaine. In addition, during that same time frame, Cobb is charged with maintaining a drug-involved premises and possessing firearms in furtherance of those crimes.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than 10 years and up to life imprisonment, a fine of $10,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendants.
Assistant United States Attorney Amy L. Johnston is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the McKeesport Police Department, the Clairton Police Department, the Allegheny County Housing Authority Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Allegheny County Police Department, and the Munhall Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
A superseding indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
