Two Scranton Men Indicted for Bank Robbery

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that two Scranton residents were indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury for bank robbery.
According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Micheal Massey, age 23, and Lee Meyers, age 22, are accused of committing a bank robbery at the First Liberty Bank and Trust on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton, on May 17, 2011. The suspects were later apprehended by the Pennsylvania State Police in Crawford County on May 27, 2011, after leading police on a high-speed vehicle chase.
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, followed by a three-year term of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Scranton Police Department. Prosecution has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara.
