Police Officer Charged with Wire Fraud

Charles Jacoby was charged today by information with wire fraud, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The information alleges that Jacoby, during the course of his official duties as a Philadelphia Police Officer, stole debit and credit cards from recently arrested and incarcerated individuals, and used the cards to purchase various items for himself and gasoline for his personal vehicle.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, three years’ supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a special assessment of $100.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin R. Brenner.
