Bank Robber Sentenced to 14 Years

KANSAS CITY, KS—Frank Landavazo, 34, Kingman, Ariz., was sentenced today to 14 years in federal prison for bank robbery.

Landavazo pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. In his plea, he admitted that on Dec. 29, 2009, he robbed the Bank of the West at 13080 West 87th Street Parkway in Lenexa, Kansas. He approached a teller, told her had a bomb, and demanded the money in her drawer. She handed over the money and he left the bank. After police released surveillance photos from the bank robbery, they received a tip identifying Landavazo. He was arrested in a hotel room in Lyons, Kansas.

The Lenexa Police Department, the Lyons Police Department, the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the FBI investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leon Patton prosecuted the case.
