FBI Bank Robbery Task Force Responds to First Robberies of 2009

FBI Houston January 05, 2009
  • Special Agent Shauna Dunlap (713) 936-7638

On the first business day of 2009, bank robbers were at it again, prompting the FBI Houston Bank Robbery Task Force to respond to two bank robberies.

On January 2, 2009 at approximately 2:00 p.m., a lone black male entered the Wachovia Bank at 10009 Almeda Genoa Road . He pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at employees and demanded cash. Witnesses say he then fled the bank in an older model sedan, possibly an Oldsmobile, teal green in color.

The robber is described as a black male, 24-26 years old, 5’09” to 5’10” tall, 175 pounds, medium build. He had a goatee, and tattoos on his right arm and on the left side of his neck. There was possibly a mole on his cheek.

At about 4:30 p.m. , just as investigators were finishing up the investigation at the Wachovia Bank, a second robber entered the First Convenience Bank within the Fiesta Supermarket at 5600 Mykawa. The man approached the teller and inquired about opening an account. He then left the bank, presumably to get some identification. He returned a few minutes later and presented the teller with a note indicating that he had a gun. Once he had obtained the cash, he left the bank on foot.

He is described as a black male, 35-45 years old, 5’04” to 5’07” tall, 160-170 pounds, medium build, with a short black afro style haircut.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of these bank robbers, or any felony suspect. If you have information about these robberies, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-8477.
