Chester Man Indicted on Federal Charges

COLUMBIA, SC—United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins stated today that Dannie Gabriel Rhyne, age 45, of Chester, South Carolina, was charged in a four-count Indictment. The Indictment alleges that once in January 2007, and on three occasions in April 2007, Rhyne possessed four stolen motor vehicles, consisting of a Kubota Tractor, a Caterpillar Skid Steer, a GMC truck and a JCB Mini-Excavator. The Indictment further alleges that the vehicles had been stolen in North Carolina and transported to South Carolina, all violations of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2313. The maximum penalty for each offense is a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment for ten years.
The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan S. Williams of the Columbia office for prosecution.
The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
