Rensselaer Man Charged with Possessing Child Pornography

ALBANY, NY—United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Clifford C. Holly, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany Division announce the filing of a criminal complaint charging JASON BURNASH, age 30, of Rensselaer, New York, with possessing child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A(a)(5)(B). The complaint charges that between about January 2010 and February 5, 2011, BURNASH knowingly possessed a computer that contained images of child pornography. If found guilty, the defendant faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000.00.

BURNASH had his initial appearance in Albany on April 14, 2011 before the Honorable David R. Homer, United States Magistrate Judge. BURNASH was detained following his appearance.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Rensselaer, New York Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Belliss.
