The San Juan Division honors Alliance for a Drug-Free Puerto Rico (Alianza para un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas) for its efforts to reduce the demand and trafficking of illicit drugs in Puerto Rico through education.

Alianza para un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas’ campaign not only focuses on preventing youth from initial contact with drugs, but also on highlighting the physical, social, and emotional risks associated with the use and abuse of drugs. Its goal is to change social attitudes that support, tolerate, or condone drug use. Throughout the year, the organization promotes the campaign via public service announcements and through media campaigns.

This non-profit organization is affiliated with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, an entity with which they share innovative prevention strategies for children and youth. Since 1998. Alianza para un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas has partnered with the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C., in an effort to showcase its educational messages.

Accepting the award for the Alianza para un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas is the organization’s executive director, Roxanna De Soto.
