The Birmingham Division honors the Liberty Learning Foundation (LLF), a non-profit organization based in Huntsville, Alabama. LLF donates innovative teaching tools and designs emotional learning experiences for the benefit of children and their larger communities. Its programs focus on crucial lessons in civics, character, and our collective “Great American Story.”

LLF’s founder, Patti Yancey, has taken on the challenge of growing the next generation of productive citizens. The focus of LLF and its five-part “Super Citizen Program” is to empower educators to teach civics, leadership, integrity, financial literacy, career readiness, and the “Great American Story” alongside required subjects. The program is developing our “Next Great Americans”—young citizens who are life and career-ready.

LLF uses the Super Citizen Program to turn learning into an active experience through a variety of programs, including a national bus tour that launched in 2012, live theatrical performances, teacher training, and the coordinated efforts of donors, volunteers, and the media. Together, they are working to teach, inspire, and empower our “Next Great Americans.”
