Arlington Man Sentenced for Receipt of Child Pornography

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Jeff Rosato, age 32, of Arlington, Va., was sentenced today to 60 months’ imprisonment, followed by 15 years of supervised release. Rosato will also be required to register as a sex offender in any U.S. jurisdiction in which he lives, works or attends school. Rosato pled guilty on Jan. 29, 2009, to receipt of child pornography. 

Dana J. Boente, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Joseph Persichini, Jr., Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Court Judge T.S. Ellis III.

According to court documents, based on information obtained from another user’s computer by the Department of Justice’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section’s High Tech Investigative Unit, it was determined that in February 2007, Rosato received multiple images of child pornography through the “Google Hello” photo sharing program.  Pursuant to this information, investigators executed a search warrant at Rosato’s residence and seized multiple computers and computer equipment.  A forensic analysis of this computer equipment revealed thousands of images and several movies of child pornography and child erotica. 

The investigation was conducted by the FBI Washington Field Office.  Special Assistant United States Attorney Andrew McCormack, who is on detail from the Department of Justice’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, prosecuted the case for the United States.
