Philadelphia Man Pleads Guilty to Illegally Possessing Crack Cocaine

JOHNSTOWN, PA—A resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, commonly known as “crack,” United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Nisia Kevin Dunaway, 22, of pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on Apr. 10, 2010, Dunaway possessed with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base.
Judge Gibson scheduled sentencing for Aug. 9, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. The law provides for a maximum of life in prison, a fine of $4,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cambria County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Dunaway.
