Beechview Woman Sentenced to a Year in Prison for Cocaine Trafficking Conspiracy

PITTSBURGH—A resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to incarceration for a period of 12 months and one day, followed by two years’ supervised release, on her conviction of violating the federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Nadine Russo, 28.

According to information presented to the court, from in or around October 2007, and continuing until in or around September 2008, in the Western District of Pennsylvania and elsewhere, Russo conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 400 grams but less than 500 grams of cocaine.

Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Nadine Russo. Other agencies participating in the investigation include the Pennsylvania State Police, the District Attorney’s Office - Violent Crimes/Firearms Task Force, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department, the Allegheny County Police Department, the Allegheny County Adult Probation, the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, the West Mifflin Police Department, the Coraopolis Police Department, the Jefferson Hills Police Department, the Mount Lebanon Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Parole.
