New Martinsville Resident Sentenced on Bank Robbery Charge

WHEELING, WV—A 26-year-old New Martinsville, West Virginia resident was sentenced on June 6, 2011, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that FRANKLIN K. DOTSON was sentenced to 51 months’ imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. DOTSON entered a plea of guilty on March 7, 2011, to robbing WesBanco Bank on February 7, 2011, in Pine Grove, West Virginia. The funds of WesBanco Bank are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

DOTSON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. The case was investigated by the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office; the West Virginia State Police; Monroe County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
