Allegheny County Man Sentenced to Prison for Cocaine Trafficking Scheme

PITTSBURGH—A resident of Imperial, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to 55 months in prison followed by five years’ supervised release for conspiring to distribute cocaine while on bond for another cocaine trafficking crime, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Cameron Mele, 36.
According to information presented to the court, from January 2009 to Dec. 15, 2009, Mele conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 300 to 400 grams of cocaine while awaiting sentencing for another cocaine trafficking crime.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police; the Pittsburgh Division of Weed and Seed; the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office; the Pennsylvania State Police; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the United States Marshals Service; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Mele.
