Trio Charged in Jewelry Store Robbery

PHILADELPHIA—Willie Hawkins Smith, Brian Marquise Sheed, and Amin Abdur-Rahe Shabazz, all 21 years old and all of Philadelphia, were charged today by indictment with robbery which interferes with interstate commerce, announced U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment charges that Smith, Sheed, and Shabazz committed a robbery of the Ultra Diamonds jewelry store, located at 18 West Lightcap Road in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on November 3, 2012.

If convicted, Smith, Sheed, and Shabazz each face a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years’ supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

This case has been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Limerick Township Police Department, the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department, the Upper Providence Township Police Department, the Royersford Police Department, and the Philadelphia Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. Zaleski.
