Philadelphia Resident Charged with Bank Robbery

Sheldon Thompkins was charged today by indictment with two counts of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment specifically charges that Thompkins robbed, and attempted to rob, the PNC Bank branch, located at 3244 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 5, 2011; the Wachovia Bank branch, located at 601 W. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 6, 2011; and the Wachovia Bank branch, located at 2843 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 6, 2011.

NAME: Sheldon Thompkins
ADDRESS: Philadelphia
AGE OR YEAR OF BIRTH: 1962

If convicted of all charges, the defendant faces a total maximum sentence of 60 years’ imprisonment, three years’ supervised release, a $750,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney William H. Weiland.
