Serial Bank Robber Strikes Again in Cheltenham

The FBI, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Cheltenham Township (Pennsylvania) Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the robbery of the Sovereign Bank branch located at 500 Central Avenue in Cheltenham yesterday morning. The same subject is also believed to be responsible for the robberies of the same Sovereign Bank branch on November 12, 2010; the Bank of America branch located at 1000 Cottman Avenue on November 30, 2010; the Bank of America branch located at 6425 Rising Sun Avenue on December 1, 2010; and the VIST Financial branch at 8004 Verree Road on December 2, 2010.
In yesterday’s robbery, the subject entered the branch at approximately 9:30 a.m. and presented a threatening demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank in an unknown direction. In yesterday’s robbery, he was wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood pulled up and a cap under the hood. In the other robberies he was wearing hats and/or hooded jackets or sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up.
The subject is described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, with a medium build.
