Convicted Felon Indicted for Possessing Firearm

Today, Ramon Malave was charged in an indictment with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment alleges that on or about August 30, 2010, Malave possessed a Ruger .22 caliber pistol.

INFORMATION REGARDING THE DEFENDANT

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative designed to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendant is likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Neuman Leverett.
