  • Eastern District of Pennsylvania (215) 861-8200

PHILADELPHIA—Tonya Marie Lord, 39, of Hamburg, PA, was sentenced yesterday to 27 months in prison for stealing $286,000 from a Wachovia Bank in Hamburg, between 2003 and 2009, where she worked as a teller.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Joel H. Slomsky ordered Lord to pay restitution in the amount of $284,190.87, serve five years on supervised release after completing her prison term, not engage in employment during her supervised release that would give her access to money via a computer, not acquire any new debt without the permission of the Probation Department, and not liquidate any assets without permission from the Probation Department.

Lord pleaded guilty to the indictment, charging her with embezzlement of funds by a bank employee, on November 19, 2009.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nancy E. Potts.
