Landsdowne Woman Charged with Embezzlement

PHILADELPHIA—United States Attorney Laurie Magid today announced the unsealing of an Indictment against Katherine M. Harrell charging that she engaged in 75 acts of bank embezzlement during a two-year period while she worked as a branch manager at United Savings Bank in South Philadelphia. In total, she stole more than half a million dollars from six customer accounts.

On each count of conviction the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 30 years in prison, five years supervised release, a $1 million fine, a $100 special assessment, and full restitution.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nancy E. Potts.
