  • Southern District of Iowa (515) 473-9300

DES MOINES, IA—On July 21, 2011, Alfredo Flores Silva, age 22, of Marshalltown, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 108 months’ imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Flores to serve a term of five years’ supervised release following imprisonment, and imposed a $100 crime victim fund assessment.

Flores was arrested on September 1, 2010, following a long-term investigation into the large-scale distribution of methamphetamine in and around Marshalltown, Iowa. The investigation culminated with the indictment of 14 individuals in the Southern District of Iowa, including Flores, for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. Flores distributed methamphetamine and collected drug proceeds for Juan Armas Sanchez as part of this conspiracy, which stretched from Marshalltown to Minnesota, Arizona and Mexico. Flores pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on April 14, 2011.

This investigation was conducted by a multi-agency task force through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). The principal mission of the OCDETF Program is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and money laundering organizations, and those primarily responsible for the nation’s illegal drug supply. Agencies involved in this investigation included the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force, the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and other local agencies. This case was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
