The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announces the arrest of 31-year-old Charles Alan Dyer, of Duncan, Oklahoma. The arrest comes after a nationwide manhunt and the efforts of multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in Texas and Oklahoma.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. today, at the intersection of Mason and Farmer Roads in the Pecan Grove community of Fort Bend County, Texas, a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy questioned a man on foot fitting Dyer’s description. He was arrested and taken to the Fort Bend County jail, where a fingerprint check confirmed his identity. Dyer was wanted by the FBI in Oklahoma City for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. According to law enforcement in Oklahoma, Dyer was scheduled to begin a trial for a state felony charge there, but failed to appear in court on August 15, 2011.

On Sunday, August 21, 2011, the Oklahoma office of the FBI issued a press release requesting public assistance in locating Dyer, making him the subject of a nationwide manhunt.
