KANSAS CITY, MO—At approximately 8:25 this morning, a suspicious package was located outside the Federal Courthouse building in Kansas City, Missouri. The package, a soft-sided mesh blue cooler, was located by a Deputy U.S. Marshal on the east side of the courthouse outside the garage door entrance facilitated by the Marshals service. On the package was a tag which indicated that the cooler contained explosives and would explode.

Responding agencies included the U.S. Marshals Service, FBI, Federal Protective Service, ATF, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department Bomb and Arson Squad and the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department.

The courthouse and several adjacent buildings were evacuated.

The package was examined and determined not to contain any explosive devices. Additionally, an anonymous call was received at the courthouse at approximately 10:00 a.m. threatening additional devices within the courthouse. The interior of the courthouse has been cleared. Investigation is continuing.
