Duval County Man Indicted and Arrested on Federal Charges of Aggravated Identity Theft and Making False Statements

JACKSONVILLE, FL—United States Attorney A. Brian Albritton announces the return of an indictment charging Brock Lynnale Thompson (age 45, of Jacksonville) with two counts of aggravated identity theft and two counts of making a false statement involving a social security number. Thompson was arrested at the residence of a relative this morning by federal agents. If convicted on all counts, Thompson faces a mandatory four years in federal prison and maximum penalty of 14 years.

According to the indictment, Thompson used the social security number of another individual when making statements to the Social Security Administration and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle, Division of Driver Licenses.

This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Coast Guard Investigative Services, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and the Florida Highway Patrol. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Frein.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
