FBI Seeks Fugitive Wanted for Sexual Assault on a Child

James David Tiner is being sought for crimes against a child in Colorado. On April 16, 2012, the victim’s mother contacted the police department alleging the sexual abuse of her daughter, which occurred between September 2009 and June 2010. During this timeframe, the mother’s daughter was 8 years old. Through investigation, it was learned that Tiner allegedly had at least four sexual encounters with the victim, who attended his home for music lessons, in Palisade, Colorado. Additionally, a search of Tiner’s home allegedly revealed multiple videos and photographs displaying the victim in the nude, while performing sexual acts with Tiner. Additional photographs of unknown pre-pubescent nude females were also allegedly found in Tiner’s home. He had listed himself in a local paper as a music teacher for hire, to which he was paid for his services.
On April 20, 2012, a state arrest warrant was issued for Tiner by the District/County Court, Mesa County, Colorado, after Tiner was charged with sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child-pattern of abuse, and sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. On June 11, 2012, a federal arrest warrant was issued, in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, after Tiner was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Tiner may be driving a red Isuzu Rodeo (shown below) with Colorado license plates 577YGP or an unknown Arkansas plates. He may also be in the company of his dog Kili. Tiner is known to be an avid outdoorsman and is possibly staying in campgrounds or national parks. He is also known to abuse drugs. Tiner has ties to Little Rock, Arkansas, and was last seen in that area on June 15, 2012.
