Fitchburg Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Pornography

BOSTON—A Fitchburg man was convicted today in federal court of possession of child pornography.
DENNIS BILOTTA, 69, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor to one count of possession of child pornography. Had the case proceeded to trial, the government’s evidence would have proven that an undercover investigation of peer-to-peer file-sharing over the Internet led federal authorities to obtain a search warrant for Bilotta’s home and computer. The execution of that search warrant resulted in the seizure of numerous photographs and videos depicting child pornography.
Judge Saylor scheduled sentencing for January 27, 2012. Bilotta faces up to 10 years in prison, to be followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Grady and David Hennessy of Ortiz’s Worcester Branch Office.
