The Washington Field Office honors Ms. Cidalia Luis-Akbar for her dedication to the enhancement of youth programs in her community.

Ms. Luis-Akbar is the chairman, chief executive officer, and owner of the M. Luis Construction Company Inc., a multi-million-dollar asphalt manufacturing and road construction company. In 2014, she raised more than $300,000 for philanthropy.

Ms. Luis-Akbar serves on the board of directors of the Washington Field Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association, which raises more than $175,000 annually to support youth activities, such as the Junior Special Agent, mentoring, and tutoring programs.

Ms. Luis-Akbar not only supports youth stateside, but those overseas as well. She is a board member of the Ayenda Foundation, an initiative that supports projects that enhance the welfare, education, and health of Afghan children, and she also serves on the board of School the World, an initiative to improve the quality of education for the developing world.
