2012 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

The Detroit Division is pleased to honor Dr. Grenaé D. Dudley, who has been a child welfare advocate for more than 30 years, as a recipient of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award. Since 1998, Dr. Dudley, a licensed clinical psychologist, has served as president and chief executive officer of The Youth Connection, a program developed to enroll children living in the Detroit area in quality after-school programs. Prior to her current position, Dr. Dudley was with The Children’s Center of Wayne County, where she worked to understand youth-related issues, including after-school programs and their effect on youth violence, substance abuse, and early sexual activity. She was honored with an award for her specialized foster care program and she received the Governor’s Community Service Award for her abstinence program. In addition to her work with The Youth Connection, Dr. Dudley co-authored a book titled Sankofa: Celebrations for the African American Church. She serves on multiple community youth task forces and county committees and is a charter member of the Southfield Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund. |
