Detroit Dr. Grenaé D. Dudley

Anchorage field office Director’s Community Leadership Award 2011

The Detroit Division is pleased to honor Dr. Grenaé D. Dudley, who has been a child welfare advocate for more than 30 years, as a recipient of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award.

Since 1998, Dr. Dudley, a licensed clinical psychologist, has served as president and chief executive officer of The Youth Connection, a program developed to enroll children living in the Detroit area in quality after-school programs. Prior to her current position, Dr. Dudley was with The Children’s Center of Wayne County, where she worked to understand youth-related issues, including after-school programs and their effect on youth violence, substance abuse, and early sexual activity. She was honored with an award for her specialized foster care program and she received the Governor’s Community Service Award for her abstinence program.

In addition to her work with The Youth Connection, Dr. Dudley co-authored a book titled Sankofa: Celebrations for the African American Church. She serves on multiple community youth task forces and county committees and is a charter member of the Southfield Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters, Director Robert S. Mueller, III recognized the recipients of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“Whatever the motivation—an unfilled need, a tragic occurrence, a desire to give back—these are people who make things happen and enlist others in their cause,” said Director Mueller. “They are activists who have earned their prestige through good works.”
