WASHINGTON, DC—The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the addition of Shaykh Aminullah to the Seeking Information—Terrorism list. The individuals on the FBI’s Seeking Information—Terrorism list are being sought in connection with designated terrorist organizations or possible terrorist activity against the United States.

Shaykh Aminullah is wanted for questioning in connection with providing material support to al Qaeda, the Taliban, and anti-coalition militias with the aid of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT). One of the largest and most proficient of the Kashmir-focused militant groups, LeT is a Pakistan-based terrorist group with links to the al Qaeda network. The U.S. Department of State designated LeT as a foreign terrorist organization in 2001.

As of early 2008, Shaykh Aminullah was allegedly providing assistance, including funding and recruits, to the al Qaeda network. He was reported to have provided funding and other resources to the Taliban, including explosive vests and other resources and facilitated the activities of anti-coalition militants operating in Afghanistan by raising money in support of terrorist activities. In addition, he allegedly began a campaign to support militants in Pakistan. Reportedly, Shaykh Aminullah was responsible for recruiting fighters and suicide bombers and for the acquisition of funds and equipment for militants in Afghanistan. Shaykh Aminullah has allegedly provided monetary compensation to families of fighters killed in Afghanistan and has been involved in anti-coalition militia recruiting activities.

Shaykh Aminullah is the founder and director of the Ganj Madrassa, a religious institution. He is believed to reside in the Ganj District (or Ganji District), Peshawar, Pakistan. He is approximately 50 years old and is approximately 5’10” tall. He has light skin and is thin with a large, round stomach. He is known to wear thick glasses and keep a curly, chest-length, salt-and-pepper beard. Shaykh Aminullah has a number of aliases, which include Fazeel-A-Tul Shaykh Abu Mohammed Ameen Al-Peshawari, Abu Mohammad Amin Bishawri, Sheik Aminullah, Shaykh Ameen, Shaykh Aminullah al-Peshawari, Abu Mohammad Aminullah Peshawari, Abu Mohammad Shaykh Aminullah al Bishauri, and Shaykh Abu Mohammed Ameen al-Peshawari.

With the addition of Shaykh Aminullah, there are currently six individuals on the FBI’s Seeking Information—Terrorism list, which was established for individuals not under indictment in the United States. This list complements the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list of individuals indicted in the United States for their alleged involvement in various terrorist attacks or planned attacks around the world against United States interests or persons.

Individuals with information concerning Shaykh Aminullah are asked to contact the FBI or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. Additional information regarding Shaykh Aminullah, including a poster with his picture, is available on the FBI’s website at http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/terrorinfo.
