Colleen M. Conyngham Named Special Agent in Charge of the Administrative Division, Washington Field Office

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Colleen M. Conyngham special agent in charge of the Administrative Division at the Washington Field Office. Ms. Conyngham most recently served as a section chief in the Security Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Conyngham began her career as a special agent with the FBI in February 1990 and reported to the San Antonio Division. In 1992, Ms. Conyngham transferred to the San Juan Division, where she investigated violent crimes and gang activity. She was one of the founding members of the San Juan Safe Streets Task Force. In October 1995, she transferred to the Miami Division, where she investigated violent crimes and also worked in an undercover capacity in the undercover investigation entitled “MedWeb” for more than a two-year period.

In 1997, Ms. Conyngham was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Undercover and Sensitive Investigations Unit in the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters. She was designated as an assistant legal attaché in Bogota, Colombia, in 1998. Ms. Conyngham returned to San Juan in August 2000, where she served as a supervisory special agent of a Public Corruption and Civil Rights squad. In 2002, Ms. Conyngham was promoted to FBI Headquarters as chief of an undercover support unit in the Criminal Investigative Division.

From 2004 to 2007, Ms. Conyngham served as an assistant special agent in charge of the Houston Division, with oversight responsibilities for white-collar and administrative matters, to include the resident agencies. She was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in 2007 and was assigned to the Security Division at FBI Headquarters.

Prior to joining the FBI, Ms. Conyngham was a deputy with the United States Marshals Service in Houston. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.
