The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for the carjacking and homicide of Eric Hakizimana.


The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Cleveland Field Office, along with the Cleveland Police Department in Ohio, are seeking the public's assistance in locating the individual responsible for the carjacking and homicide of Eric Hakizimana on May 25, 2020.


Hakizimana, who was 17 years old at the time of his death, was returning from soccer practice when he was pulled from his vehicle at gunpoint while stopped at a light at West 80th Street and Detroit Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, by an unidentified male. He was subsequently killed by the same unidentified male, who may have been involved in the shooting death of another man several blocks away approximately five minutes earlier.


This case is being investigated as part of the Department of Justice's Operation Legend, a coordinated federal and local law enforcement initiative to fight violent crime.
