The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the disappearance of Jacob Erwin Wetterling, who disappeared from St. Joseph, Minnesota, on October 22, 1989. Wetterling was last seen at approximately 9:00 p.m. with two other children when they were threatened at gunpoint by an unknown individual.
At the time of his disappearance, Wetterling wore contacts and glasses for nearsightedness. He was a sports fanatic (especially televised sports) and loved football, hockey and baseball.
Wetterling enjoyed playing Nintendo video games and liked to build things. He was very skilled with model kits. His favorite foods were pizza, steak and peanut butter.
He was last seen wearing a red St. Cloud hockey jacket that had a large St. Cloud Police Department logo on the back. He was also wearing an orange vest, blue sweatpants, and white Nike high-top running shoes with a grey stripe.
Wetterling has a mole on his left cheek near his nose, a mole under his right eye, and a mole on his neck. He also has a freckle on his right wrist and a scar on his left knee.
