On January 26, 2018, a local arrest warrant was issued for DeYoung in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for the County of Curry after he was charged with attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, delivery of a controlled substance, and unlawful manufacture of marijuana. On February 1, 2018, a federal arrest warrant was issued for DeYoung in the United States District Court, District of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
