Video Transcript

When foreign governments stalk, harass, intimidate, or assault people in the United States, it is called transnational repression.
The FBI defines transnational repression as a foreign nation breaching national borders by physical or digital means to silence, coerce, or threaten exiles, dissidents, and members of religious or ethnic minority communities. The FBI is here to ensure the free and fair expression of democratic privileges for all Americans, all communities, and all individuals who reside in the U.S. and its territories. We want to ensure, through our work, that all communities are protected from foreign intimidation and interference and can participate in a system free from threats of harassment or intimidation. Education is vital within our mission to inform everyone about this threat, and we are committed to increase victim outreach, awareness, and empowerment with your help.

The FBI’s Threat Intimidation Guide, which is located on our website, is translated into over 60 languages so victims, no matter their background, can access the resources available to them, how to contact us, and what to expect when they engage with the FBI to share their information and their experience. If you feel you may be a victim of transnational repression, please report it to the FBI online at tips.fbi.gov or by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI. For more information about our work combatting transnational repression, please visit fbi.gov backslash transnational repression.
