John G. Perren, Counterterrorism Division SAC, Washington Field Office: It was a beautiful sunny day when suddenly our world changed in a way we never would have imagined it.

As I and other members of the Washington Field Office responded to the Pentagon we were overwhelmed with the destruction and devastation.

We were shocked and angry that someone would do this to our country and to such a respected institution as the Pentagon.

Maj. Gen. Karl Horst, U.S. Army Military District of Washington: We took the 2,500-pound piece of stone. We cut it into three pieces--800 pounds.

The first one went to Arlington County. The second one comes to the Washington Field Office and the third one will go to the New York City Fire Department.

When the world changed we found out who our true friends were and it was Arlington County and it was the Washington Field Office of the FBI.
