FBI Los Angeles Air Assault PSA

FBI Los Angeles releases a public service announcement about sexual and physical assault on aircraft.

Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Donald Alway, the assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office.

Each year during April, we observe Sexual Assault Prevention Month to bring awareness to this prevalent crime problem.

While sexual assault can happen anywhere, many travelers don't realize that it can happen during a flight on an airplane. The FBI has special jurisdiction to investigate crimes that occur aboard aircraft—including sexual assaults.

Most passengers travel by air without incident, but if you or a loved one encounter sexual misconduct—whether physical or verbal—please alert your flight attendant immediately because timely reporting is important for responding investigators.

Again, please notify an airline crew member or a member of law enforcement if you have been the victim of a sexual assault during your flight, or if you become aware of a fellow traveler who may have been victimized.

You may reach the FBI or submit a tip by visiting fbi.gov.
