Kansas City Detective Describes Role of FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force

I think the most surprising aspect of working on the JTTF is seeing kind of the online vitriol that that goes on. Some of the comments are pretty shocking of what people will say or how extreme they might go with those comments. And, you know, it's shocking to learn how people take those comments online and then maybe, you know, go in the real world and carry out acts of violence.

The most rewarding aspect is being able to track down those people who make those threats online or who have plans to carry out violence and mitigating those threats. One of the more positive aspects of the job is to see there's people out in the world who will report these things when we see those comments online and report them to the FBI so that we can prevent violence from happening.
