Video Transcript

Hi, my name is David Kadela. I'm the supervisory senior resident agent for FBI Richmond's Roanoke and Bristol RA’s.

I grew up in central Ohio, where athletics were a very large part of my life. After high school, I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to Virginia Tech, where I played four years for the Hokies.

Following my time at Tech, I played six years in the NFL. I was a part of some great teams and had a lot of fun. My last three years in the NFL, I played for the Carolina Panthers and while at the Panthers I was given the opportunity, along with some of my teammates, to spend time with some special agents out of the Charlotte field office.

That time had a very large impact on my life. They were some truly great people who were passionate about the mission, and it had a big impact on me. And after discussing with my family, I made the decision to apply to the FBI. Approximately 11 months later, I ended up in Quantico going through new agent training.

After graduation, I reported to the FBI Miami field office in the Fort Pierce R.A.. I worked violent crime, counterterrorism, financial crime, drugs. Was a part of a great team in Fort Pierce. And after 10 years, I reported to FBI Headquarters where I worked at the Violent Crime Unit. And then after that, I was fortunate enough to end up back here in Virginia, in the Roanoke RA.

The decision to become a special agent was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've been able to work both national security and criminal investigations. I've been able to meet and interact with people from all walks of life. So truly has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I would highly encourage you to consider the special agent position, and I'd like to invite you to our recruiting event on August 22nd from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Thank you.
