MEADOR: I'm here with Leslie Mclane, FBI Richmond's Community Outreach Specialist, who's going to speak with us about an exciting upcoming event that we've been working on. So, Leslie, what's on the horizon?
MCLANE: On September 10th, we're going to be out in beautiful Southwest Virginia hosting our first diversity agent recruitment event in that area.
MEADOR: So specific to this event, this one's a little different than our typical recruitment events. How so?
MCLANE: So the diversity agent recruitment event or the DAR as we call it is for career professionals. These are people who are interested in a career change. They already have the required college degree, the required work experience, and they're ready to hit that submit button on special agent applications.
MEADOR: So I want to be an FBI agent and meet the qualifications. I'm going to hit the submit button if I come to this, if I register and I come to this career fair, what am I going to learn?
MCLANE: So you're going to get the chance to interact one on one with special agents. You're going to get to hear from a career panel of agents talking about the work that they do
and their experiences working for the FBI. And most importantly, you're going to get to ask questions about what it's like working for the FBI.
MEADOR: Okay, how do I apply?
MCLANE: The posting is live right now on FBI jobs.gov. If you click on the Talent Network, you'll see a posting for the DAR event in Roanoke.
MEADOR: Well this is great. Here in FBI Richmond we always talk about and stress the importance of taking advantage of opportunities. This opportunity is the first thing we're bringing in Southwest Virginia. So we look forward to bringing this resource to you. If you're one of those individuals that has always thought about being an FBI agent, you meet the qualifications and you think this might be a career for you? Submit your resume. Apply online. We look forward to meeting you and telling you about how awesome the FBI is, and to see whether or not it's a career field that you may want to pursue. Look forward to meeting you on September 10th.
