FBI Richmond Employee Spotlight Series: IA Katherine Gallego

Video Transcript

Katherine Gallego: I still drive up to work every day and I'm like, I cannot believe that I work here.

My name is Katherine Gallego. I'm an intelligence analyst at FBI Richmond.

As an intelligence analyst, I review information that the agents put into the cases. And if I see something that maybe is worth sharing, something that's interesting, something that's new, or something that maybe I've seen coming out of other offices, I will brief it to my superior or to our supervisory special agent.

Analysts are mostly introverts. I think I'm an extroverted introvert at times. I've always been really into reading, problem solver. I love crosswords, word searches, all kinds of things. I like to pick at something, kind of just keep pulling.

So my grandma says that as a little girl, when I would come visit, I always had a book with me, no matter what it was or how long I was there. I was always reading.

When I was in grad school, I took a special topics course that focused on the FBI and intelligence. And immediately, I knew that this is where I wanted to work. That's what I wanted to do.

I moved to Richmond without knowing anybody, and our friend group just keeps growing. We're a family. Even the squad, we're a family, everybody has been super welcoming. I have wanted to do this for a very long time. And I'm here.
