Beware of Elder Fraud Scams

A public service announcement illustrates how quickly an elder fraud scam can part fraud victims from their money.

Slide: In 2022, victims over the age of 60 lost $3.1 billion to scammers.

Speaker 1: The lady on the phone was saying that she was my granddaughter. She needs help. She hasn't got the money and they’re going to take her to jail.

Speaker 2: We went to the bank, got the money. Then the girl came over, picked it up, and then she took off.

Slide: If you or a loved one is the victim of an elder fraud scam, report it to IC3.gov.

Speaker 1: Anyone is vulnerable to this. They’re very good.
