Tampa Bay-Area Armed Bank Robber Sentenced to More Than 41 Years in Prison

TAMPA—U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Kovachevich sentenced Francisco Feliciano (41, Tampa) last week to 41 years and two months in federal prison for two counts of bank robbery, two counts of carrying or brandishing a firearm during the commission of those robberies, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Feliciano was convicted by a jury on June 21, 2012.

According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, on April 1, 2011, Feliciano, along with Steven Trubey, attempted to rob the First Bank in Lutz by entering the bank armed with a firearm. Bank tellers observed Feliciano entering the bank and hid from him. He fled the scene without any money. Ten days later, on April 11, 2011, Feliciano, aided by Trubey and Christopher Quinn, robbed the San Antonio (Florida) Federal Credit Union. Using a hoax bomb and a firearm, they stole approximately $10,766 before fleeing the bank.

Trubey and Quinn previously pleaded guilty for their roles in this case. On March 16, 2012, Quinn was sentenced to 14 years and eight months in federal prison. On June 27, 2012, Trubey was sentenced to eight years and five months in federal prison.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Pasco and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Offices and the Tampa Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Colleen Murphy Davis and Jay Hoffer.
