ORLANDO—A federal jury found Fredrick Bodison (33, Leesburg) guilty today of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, commonly known as “crack” cocaine. Bodison was also found guilty of distribution and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and other illegal controlled substances in pill form, including 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), also known as Ecstasy and N-Benzylpiperazine (BZP). He faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 1, 2012.

Bodison was indicted on September 21, 2011, along with 20 other individuals, as part of Operation Woodchop. Operation Woodchop targeted illegal drug and firearm activity in Zellwood and Tangerine, Florida. All of the other individuals have since pleaded guilty.

According to evidence presented at trial, Bodison sold crack cocaine and illegal pills from a residence on Wadsworth Road in Tangerine. On June 15, 2011, he sold crack cocaine to law enforcement via a co-defendant. On June 28, 2011, and again on August 5, 2011, Bodison sold crack cocaine and illegal pills directly to a confidential informant. Bodison cooked the crack cocaine himself at the location on Wadsworth Road and was carrying a pistol during one of the transactions.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the U.S. Marshals Service; the Mount Dora Police Department; and the Tavares Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney E. Jackson Boggs, Jr.
