Hernando Man Sentenced for Threat to U.S. Representative

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 17, 2010
  • Middle District of Florida (813) 274-6000

TAMPA—United States Attorney A. Brian Albritton announces that United States District Judge Steven D. Merryday yesterday sentenced Erik Pidrman (age 67, of Spring Hill) to 27 months in federal prison for threatening to assault or murder a United States official. Pidrman had pleaded guilty on June 16, 2010.

An FBI investigation disclosed that Pidrman left a message in the early morning hours of March 25, 2010 on the voice mail system of the district office of United States Representative Ginny Brown-Waite. He did not identify himself but stated that he had “27 people that are going to make sure that [expletive] doesn’t live to see her next term.” The FBI used telephone records to identify Pidrman’s telephone number as the source of the call, and he subsequently admitted that the voice of the caller was his.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay L. Hoffer of the Tampa Division.
