Tampa Man Who Robbed Lakeland Bank Sentenced to 22 Years

TAMPA, FL—A. Brian Albritton today announced that U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara has sentenced Cornelius Bryant (age 30, of Tampa) to 22 years in federal prison on charges of bank robbery and violation of supervised release. Bryant had been found guilty by a jury on December 11, 2008.

According to evidence presented at trial, on June 23, 2008, Bryant robbed the MidFlorida Federal Credit Union at 1551 East Gary Road in Lakeland, Florida. At the time Bryant was serving a term of federal supervised release for a prior bank robbery conviction in 2002.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Laurel F. Moore.
