Territory Manager of St. Charles County Business Pleads Guilty to Federal Fraud Charges

ST. LOUIS—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Eric Engle pled guilty to a fraud charge involving his scheme to defraud his employer of approximately $342,430.

According to court documents, Engle was employed by LabCorp, Inc., of St. Charles County, as a patient service technician territory manager for the North Central Division of LabCorp, Inc., between 2007 and September 2011. LabCorp runs patient centers that service people who are directed by doctors to have blood samples analyzed. Engle’s duties included the collection of money for services rendered, as well as payment of expenses necessary to manage the centers. During his employment with LabCorp, Engle created a fictitious cleaning service company called OptiClean. One of the clients was LabCorp. Engle created fraudulent invoices of approximately $342,430 to LabCorp for services that were never rendered.

ERIC ENGLE, St. Charles, Missouri, pled guilty to one felony count of wire fraud before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton. Sentencing has been set for June 1, 2012.

Wire fraud carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $1,000,000. In determining the actual sentences, a Judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges.
