Three Area Men Indicted on Kidnapping and Weapons Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office January 14, 2011
  • Eastern District of Missouri

ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that three men have been indicted involving the kidnapping of two juvenile females at gunpoint on November 21 and 22, 2010.

MARRION DOTSON, MYRON KIMBLE, and LARRY NEWMAN, all of St. Louis, were each indicted on one felony count of kidnapping and one felony count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

"The two kidnapping victims were safely rescued because of the tireless efforts of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the St. Louis County Police Department," said Dennis L. Baker, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI St. Louis Division. "And it was that same determination, diligence and dedication that led to the identification, arrest and indictments of the three suspects."

If convicted, kidnapping carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and/or fines up to $250,000; the firearm count carries a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Tom Mehan is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

As is always the case, charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.
