St. Louis Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 09, 2010
  • Eastern District of Missouri

ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Yuriy Shrifteylik pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud relevant to loans for the purchase of medical equipment.

According to court documents, Shrifteylik was operating Neighborhood Clinic, a medical clinic located on Telegraph Road in St. Louis County, in association with a physician who owned Chesterfield MedCenter. In 2007, Shrifteylik was involved in the application for two loans from Commerce Bank to allegedly purchase two Hitachi MRI machines for $750,000 each. As indicated in the plea agreement, Shrifteylik submitted false documentation in connection with the two loans and no Hitachi MRI machines were ever purchased.

YURIY SHRIFTEYLIK, St. Louis, pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud this morning before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

He now faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000, when he is sentenced on December 3, 2010.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney John Bodenhausen is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
