Kirksville Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Pornography Charges

ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Steven Jeffries pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of child pornography. The charge involves his possession of child pornography images on his computer between July and September 2008.

He appeared this morning before United States District Judge Charles A. Shaw. Possession of child pornography carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. Sentencing has been set for September 23, 2010.

This case was investigated by the Adair County Prosecuting Attorney, the Kirksville Police Department and the Kirksville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Carrie Costantin is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
